My Story
Painting became my alternative life in the evenings after work at the nursing home after the kids grew up. While the family watched evening tv shows, my studio was set up in the same room and I painted while still in their company. My paintings have since been shown in different gallery events in the area and on line. I consider myself a story teller through my work and particularly enjoy painting animals, although about any subject will capture my imagination. With a world in upheaval, I hope that my paintings will bring about a sense of hope, humor, healing and neighborliness.
For as long as I can remember, I was the kid who doodled on all of my notebooks and papers in school. I grew up in Wyoming, and while our travels were largely limited to trips to Grandma’s house in Colorado and Sunday drives, I thrived on going to the library weekly, carrying home as many books as the library allowed. I would read them all (Nancy Drew and the Bobbsey Twins as early as 2nd or 3rd grade), these and many others would take me on adventures around the world.
I also learned to sew on Grandma’s old Singer Treadle machine, later on her tiny black Singer. To my delight in 2001 I was hired on at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden Colorado where volunteers gave me invaluable lessons on quilting and fiber art.
